President Claudia Sheinbaum led the commemoration of International Women's Day with a tribute to the women of the Armed Forces, at an event held at the Military Sports Field Marte in Mexico City. During the event, the head of state highlighted the role of women in the Army, Air Force, and Navy, noting that their work contributes to the strengthening of the country. 'Know that the people of Mexico see you, recognize you, and respect you. Know that your service strengthens our country and know that every step you take opens the way for many Mexican women,' she expressed. The head of the Executive branch emphasized that recognizing women in military institutions also represents a commitment to continue building spaces free of discrimination, harassment, and violence. In her message, Sheinbaum recalled the participation of women at different stages in the history of Mexico, such as Leona Vicario, Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Gertrudis Bocanegra, and Manuela Molina during the Independence; Margarita Maza and Ignacia Riesch during the Reform; as well as Carmen and Natalia Serdán, Hermila Galindo, and Adela Velarde during the Mexican Revolution. The women of the Army, Air Force, and Navy represent the continuity of that history of heroines. During the ceremony, the president presented decorations and recognitions to 30 members of the Army, Air Force, and National Guard, 10 from the Secretariat of the Navy, and 20 from the Secretariat of Women.
